Linde, for creating this wonderful Record Series. I loved these two characters and cannot wait to see how their story ends in “For the Record,” which I will be starting immediately after writing this review. I loved being able to get into his mind and see how he was feeling and dealing with everything going on. I did hate that it was a love triangle, but man oh man, did the last part of the book make up for it! I once again loved that the book was told from Liz’s POV, all except for the last chapter, which was from Brady’s. I was rooting for them all the way, and will continue to do so. Those two had undeniable chemistry and attraction to one another, and to be honest, they were completely meant to be. I loved Brady and Liz, especially when they were together. I really enjoyed reading this sequel and thought it was amazing, especially the last twenty percent or so. Oh my goodness, did “On the Record” ever take me on a roller coaster ride of emotions! I think I’m still reeling from some of them. Linde’s Record series decides whether it’s better to pick up the pieces and move on…or to pick up right where you left off. Although Triton's corrupt CEO and his murderous, stop-at-nothing minions are on her trail, clever Sidney foils them at almost every turn. Eager to get a printout that could clear Jason, Sidney sets out on a roundabout odyssey that takes her from suburban Virgina to Manhattan and points north. Presciently, however, the missing man had encrypted his proof of Triton's misdeeds on a duplicate disk that he mailed to himself before disappearing. She keeps her own counsel, but Lee Sawyer (an FBI agent assigned to the case) is suspicious because available evidence suggests that Jason not only sabotaged the downed aircraft but also engineered a megabuck embezzlement. On the day of his funeral, Sidney hears from him via phone. Jason, who had shopped his company's darkest secrets in an effort to make a quick financial killing, switched planes before takeoff and is alive but not well in Seattle. Sidney's subliminal faith is not misplaced. The simple rhymes on the left page of each spread, written from the young bird’s perspective, will appeal to younger children, and the notes on the right-hand page of each spread provide more complex factual information that will help parents answer further questions and satisfy the curiosity of older children. The author clearly feels a mission to impart her extensive knowledge of birds and bird behavior to the very young, and she’s found an appealing and attractive way to accomplish this. An especially endearing nesting behavior is that of the emperor penguin, who, with unbelievable patience, incubates the egg between his tummy and his feet for up to 60 days. Some of the notes are intriguing, such as the fact that the hummingbird uses flexible spider web to construct its cup-shaped nest so the nest will stretch as the chicks grow. Echoing the meter of “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” Ward uses catchy original rhymes to describe the variety of nests birds create.Įach sweet stanza is complemented by a factual, engaging description of the nesting habits of each bird. What Happened: Poems 1997–2017 is Alvin Pang’s first volume of selected poems to be published in Singapore, coming fifteen years after his last solo collection City of Rain (2003). Innately restless (a chip off the old block there), Franz Xaver then moved to a Polish patron, Count Janiszewski, before settling in Lemberg (present-day Lviv) as a freelance musician. Three years later he escaped from the inevitable scrutiny of the Viennese to the provincial obscurity of Galicia, where he initially served as music teacher to Count Viktor Baworowski. In 1805, aged fourteen, he gave his public debut in Emanuel Schikaneder’s Theater auf der Wieden. Born just four months before Wolfgang’s death, Franz Xaver showed precocious talent as a pianist, and as a boy was taught by, inter alia, Salieri (ironically, given the baseless posthumous rumours that grew up around the Italian) and Hummel, who as a Wunderkind had once been a pupil of Wolfgang’s. Court Kapellmeister Antonio Salieri prophesied, optimistically as it turned out, that he would make a career ‘not inferior to that of his celebrated father’. Constanze Mozart expected great things from her younger surviving son, Franz Xaver Wolfgang. |
